A Poetic Affair

How Do You Know?

The background: So often we meet that special someone that makes us wonder where that person has been all our lives.  She comes into our world and makes things better, much better in fact, and we become happy and satisfied. Some of us though still need to ask that age old question, "How do you know?" either because we were hurt in a past relationship, or for reasons even we don't understand, we don't trust our feelings, are unsure, and need answers.  I invite you to ask yourself the question, even if you think you do know.

How Do You Know?

How do you know you're in love with a woman?

Tell me, how do you know?

Is it the feeling in your stomach you don't understand

Or the fact that you're always missing her so?!

How do you know?!

How do you know when you adore a woman?

Tell me, how do you know?

Is it when love is inadequate to describe your emotion

And you just can't seem to stem the overflow?!

How do you know?!

How do you know you believe in a woman?

Tell me, how do you know?

Is it when you bare your soul and put your heart in her hands

And in your head the Lord says, well done, take a bow?!

How do you know?!

How do you know when you need a woman?

Tell me, how do you know?

Is it when you first think of a marital union

And being single is no longer the preferred way to go?!

How do you know?!

How do you know when you desire a woman?

Tell me, how do you know?

Is it when you think of her and you're filled with passion

And each time you're together that passion seems to grow?!

How do you know?!

Indeed, I have answered all my questions

So it's clear I already know!

I'm in love with and adore the world's finest woman

Whom I believe in, need, and desire from head to toe

And truthfully, that's how you know!
