Duhaney A. Smith, author of A Poetic Affair: Love, Laugh, Cry, Reflect Duhaney Alexander Smith, otherwise called "Roger" or "Das" by family and friends, is a highly achieved Jamaican. He is a chartered accountant, holds an MBA in finance and has completed levels I and II of the CFA examinations. He is a devoted father of three children who form the nucleus of his life. From an early age Duhaney displayed a natural aptitude for the Arts. His talents were further harnessed and developed through writing and photography classes at various institutions.
A past student of Kingston College, the younger Duhaney spent much of his spare time scribbling verses as a means of entertainment at first, but gradually learnt that his creativity could be an affective medium of expressing feelings he would not normally share publicly.
Duhaney employs two primary techniques in his work. He has an uncanny ability to empathize with members of both sexes so he writes in a manner that speaks directly to his readers while he shares his feelings and opinions. In addition, his work is from the heart, but it is not typical. He considers the inclusion of factual information a very necessary technique to which he stays true.
Duhaney's life experiences are vast and involve people from all walks of life, from many parts of the world. These experiences coupled with his never ending thirst for knowledge have been used to enhance his poems.
Being an avid reader himself, the writer has long discovered that the written word can be quite therapeutic for some who are faced with difficulties. He therefore writes with the intent of being a supportive companion for his readers. Not only will they be able to feel with the writer but they will also be able to learn from him.
