The background: No matter how strong we are mentally and physically, a constant assault upon our bodies and our minds will eventually break us. And when we become powerless to make a difference having tried and failed repeatedly, but occasionally we got a glimpse of the potential there is, we start to dream, and hope for a saviour. Those amongst us who are religiously inclined look to the Saviour, and those who put their faith in man look for that inspiring leader who really is just an individual prone to human frailties. While we wait, sometimes pain, suffering, anger, and despair become the cocktail upon which we remain intoxicated in our bid to cope.
Anguish
Weeping and wailing; and wallowing in self pity
Everyday performances in this wonderful city
Land of the free, living in blind captivity
Clearly for chaos there is a definite proclivity.
Outside of death, fear and despair are our companions
Madness, sheer madness in the land of great champions
Echoes of the cries from the living and the dead
Torturous are the thoughts crawling through my head.
Ordinary man now simply doubts his origin
Judas' heinous crime will forever be a sin
Agnostic impulses always seek community
Man loses faith when there's murder with impunity.
Reality-check is the cure for we who idealize
Orthodox behaviors are uncommon in Paradise
"Careful", therefore, is the natural way to proceed
Kings aren't immortal; when they're pricked they always bleed.
