Bonjour Haiti
Untold deaths, unthinkable damage; no, it's not fake!
Man's faith, amongst the things shaken by this quake.
Angry words; tongues as sharp as swords, "Lord for how long?!"
Cries made hoarse by blood and dirt; weakened faith, "How wrong!"
Floods, fires, and earthquakes; four hurricanes in a row!
What have my brothers done, Father, for them to suffer so?!
Financially, it seems, Haiti has always been in trouble
Now, bodies lying, cries coming, from under so much rubble.
For far too long, there have been plenty of empty platitudes
Now there's love, and we hope, a permanent change of attitudes.
Clothes, shoes, food and supplies; cash aid of significance
Haiti's re-development; a cause célèbre to advance.
For over Two Hundred years, yes, a liberated nation.
A fully independent country, run by the black man.
See, the slaves of Haiti, for their freedom there was great thirst
So the West's second republic was born; America is the first.
Haiti, Lord knows, not all your leaders have served you well
And at times your life from afar, seemed like living hell.
But you have survived; and though there are so many scars
Where there's life, there is hope, set your sights on yonder stars.
We all know that the destruction could have been a lot worse
And when bad things happen, yes it's hard not to feel cursed.
But an "Act of God"? No way! Please, keep the faith, man!
God makes good things happen; bad things, blame them on Satan!
Pray brothers! Blessings will come much sooner than you expect.
Plan your course, think of what you really want to achieve next.
Put your trust in God, and all your dreams will materialize
And like the phoenix, from the ashes, Haiti you shall rise!
